MMK, LMZ’s Russian Sales up 8%

UrBC, Magnitogorsk, February 25, 2020. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) and MMK’s Lysva-based plant MMK-LMZ sold 8,300,000,000 kg of metal goods on the Russian market in 2019, up 8% on one year earlier, Head of Marketing at Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works Denis Chernenko said at Russia’s Local Metal Trade Conference recently.
‘Hot-rolled metal products made up 48% of MMK and MMK-LMZ sales on the home market last year. The share of rolled section steel sales was 17%; cold-rolled products, zinc-coated rolled metal goods, and goods with polymeric coating made up 11%, 14%, and 5% of our Russian sales, respectively. As for our customers, 31% of sales were to those in the pipe-making industry and 32% of sales were to those in the metal trade and steel service sector. 14%, 7%, and 7% of last year’s sales were to customers in the machine-building, car-making, and semi-integrated works segments, respectively,’ MMK’s Information & PR Department says.
Denis Chernenko also said that 24% of sales to Russian metal traders and steel service centers in 2019 (2,620,000,000 kg) were to local customers and 40% of sales were to large metal trading businesses. The remaining 36% of sales were to MMK Group’s own member enterprise MMK Trading House.
