MMK Supplies More to Russia’s Metal Centers

UrBC, Magnitogorsk, September 15, 2017. 40% of goods supplied by Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) onto domestic market last year were actually supplied to metal service centers; in 2015, the figure was 32%, MMK Information, PR & Advertising Department reports.

This increase had to do with greater use of IT technologies in the sales process, says MMK Regional Sales Group manager Alexander Margishvili, who spoke at the 8th All-Russian Metal Service Conference in Novosibirsk on September 14.

‘MMK’s rolled metal goods mainly get processed by companies based in the nearby Urals and Western Siberia as well as in the metal-consuming Central Russia. MMK supplies its produce to most Russian metal-trading and metal-processing companies that operate a metal service center,’ the Department says.

Metal service centers mainly need hot-rolled sheets and rolled section steel. They also process a great deal of zinc-coated rolled products. This year, MMK launched yet another continuous hot-dip galvanizing unit (capacity: 360,000 kg a year), which means the plant’s customers will now have a better choice of zinc-coated rolled metal goods.
