March 25, 2014. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) increased its output of goods with polymeric coating by nearly a third last year, MMK Senior Manager for Local Sales of Coated Metal Goods & Tin Products Sergey Pikalov announced at the 9th International Conference on Zinc-Coated and Painted Rolled Stock Production & Consumption Trends.
MMK produced 1,170,000,000 kg of coated metal goods in 2013, which was 29% more than in 2012. The company made 825,000,000 kg of galvanized products (+40.5% on 2012) and 345,000,000 kg of products with polymeric coating (+7.8% on 2012) last year. This considerable increase was possible due to the full launch of cold-roll Mill 2000 (the second extension to the mill started operating a year earlier).
In 2013, MMK raised its share of the home market to 15% in the polymeric coating goods segment and to 26% in the zinc-coated segment. The domestic market remains MMK's top priority: in 2013, 88% of rolled goods sales were made on the Russian market and 12% of sales were made within the CIS. This year, MMK is planning to gradually increase the shipment of goods with polymeric coating on the Russian market to meet the growing demand.
