UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 3, 2019. The new locomotive unit NP 1 got launched at EVRAZ Kachkanarsky Ore Mining & Processing Enterprise (EVRAZ KGOK) this week, EVRAZ Holding Ural’s Corporate Communications Center reports.
One more unit will arrive at the enterprise before the end of the year as well. The locomotive units will be used in the active mines as well as at the new Sobstvenno-Kachkanarskoye titanium magnetite ore deposit.
‘NP 1 got manufactured in Novocherkassk and is currently one of Russia’s most productive locomotive units, comprising a loco and two engine-operated dump-cars. This means the units can take up to eleven fully loaded dump-cars (1,300,000 kg of rock mass) from out a very deep mine with complicated reliefs. The loco is also fitted with a new wheel-lubricating system to increase their lifespan,’ the company says.
‘The new vehicles were purchased as part of EVRAZ KGOK’s strategic development program. More new locomotive units will mean we can give up on the obsolete appliances and make the railway transport performance more efficient. We also keep getting new 240,000-kg BelAZ trucks and excavators (scoop capacity: 20 m3),’ says EVRAZ Vice President and Head of EVRAZ Holding Ural Denis Novozhenov.
EVRAZ KGOK currently operates twenty NP 1 units. A single set (a loco and eleven dump-cars) handles some 8,000,000 kg of rock mass every day.
