EVRAZ KGOK Launches New Loco
23 January 2020 (09:07)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, January 23, 2020. EVRAZ Holding’s Kachkanarsky Ore Mining & Processing Enterprise (EVRAZ KGOK) launched new Loco NP-1 in combination with two motor dump-cars made at Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant, EVRAZ Holding Ural’s Corporate Communications Center reports.
Two similar locos will arrive at the plant before the end of the year as well.
‘Locos NP-1 proved very efficient at deep mines with complicated reliefs. The locos were custom-designed for EVRAZ KGOK and have hauling power of up to 2,000,000 kg at the speed of up to 65 km/hour. The locos have four different braking systems, which makes the driving process safer. The loco is 65 meters long and weighs 360,000 kg,’ the company says.
‘These gradual equipment upgrades will result in the company’s locomotives growing more productive and the loco operators’ working conditions getting better. We purchased two up-to-date locos last year and keep adding new ones to our fleet. In addition to new locos, special-purpose vehicles for railroad repairs will get acquired as well,’ says Managing Director at EVRAZ Kachkanarsky Ore Mining & Processing Enterprise and EVRAZ Nizhniy Tagil Integrated Metallurgical Plant Alexei Kushnarev.
The new loco will be used to transfer ore from Glavny Mine, Severny Mine, Zapadny Mine, and Yuzhnaya Zalezh Mine to the grinding facility and to transfer mining waste to the dump.
A loco plus eleven dump-cars handle about 8,000,000 kg of rock mass a day.
