UrBC, Yekaterinburg, May 30, 2019. The telecom company MegaFon now has 7% more LTE stations than at the start of the year, the company reports.

‘MegaFon currently operates more than 93,000 4G base stations throughout the country, which is more than any other telecom giant on the Big4 list does,’ the company says.

According to Roskomnadzor, the number of MegaFon’s LTE base stations exceeded 93,000 by May 1, 2019. This means the company now owns more than 34% of all the 4G stations in Russia. Together, all the mobile carriers/ISPs operating in the country have 272,000 stations all in all.

According to MegaFon’s representatives, the company’s large network ensures high-speed Internet connection for the customers. MegaFon has won the Speedtest Awards by Ookla as the fastest Internet connection provider (based on the testing of connection speed with Russian users) for the second time this year.

‘Russians spend more than 3.5 hours a day online on their smartphones. They are increasingly more interested in video and digital services that offer a solution to nearly any problem, from paying a restaurant bill to paying the housing bills to shopping. Their primary need is to have the services that don’t fail and work fast. Now MegaFon’s powerful 4G network provides exactly that; our 4G Internet connection is now available to over 15 million users in the Urals in 425 towns,’ says MegaFon Ural’s Tech Director Anton Scherbakov.
