UrBC, Moscow, March 5, 2018. MegaFon is now the Speedtest Award winner for Fastest Mobile Network according to Ookla, the global Internet speed test leader, the telecommunications provider’s press service reports.

Based on speed testing results provided by Ookla’s Russian users of Speedtest app, MegaFon proved the ISP with the highest-speed mobile Internet connection in the second and third quarters of 2017. The data downloading speed came to 25.04 Mb/sec on average. Ookla looked into data from over 7,900 speed tests of all ISPs taken on 1,200 LTE-supporting devices.

‘MegaFon makes a special focus on connection quality and high-speed Internet access. In May 2012, we were Russia’s first provider to introduce 4G LTE; we also launched the world’s first commercial LTE Advanced network in February 2014 (raising data transfer speed to 300 Mb/sec). On August 8, 2017, we were among the world’s very first companies to introduce Gigabit LTE on a commercial scale and offered connection at 979 Mb/sec. MegaFon has built more base stations than any other Russian carrier. Millions of speed tests done through Ookla’s Speedtest app prove that we truly are the market leader, so I am proud to receive this award today,’ says MegaFon Strategic Marketing Director Svyatoslav Gorban.
