UrBC, Magnitogorsk, January 31, 2019. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) is currently coordinating an online auction to find a contractor for a layout and design and project documentation on a museum/educational facility/park/sports facility in Magnitogorsk, MMK’s Information & PR Department reports.

The auction is part of the company’s large-scale, multi-purpose urban development program (aka Prityazheniye) in the city’s south-western locations. The site for the would-be multifunctional park in Magnitogorsk belongs to MMK and is 357.3 hectares large. The plant has the town council’s and Chelyabinsk Region’s Investment Development Agency’s support on this project. Prityazheniye is also part of Magnitogorsk Development Strategy for 2019-2025.

‘People living in Magnitoorsk deserve to enjoy nice urban environment and to have every opportunity for recreation, physical activity, sports, and healthy lifestyle practices. Our project means a green, landscaped patch of land will house quite a few high-profile facilities intended for recreation, education, entertainment, and medical treatment. MMK will do its best to make sure Prityazheniye gets completed one hundred percent and truly proves worthy of its name by becoming attractive to both locals and visitors,’ says MMK Chair of the BOD Viktor Rashnikov.

The site will get developed in several stages. First, over 160 hectares will get allocated for the core facilities such as the museum, the sports center, and a park. The park will get divided in several sectors: family recreation (walking paths, gazebos, play areas, and two man-made ponds); and entertainment (an amusement park, a safari park, entertainment venues, a skate park, and a large square). The entire area with everything in it is meant to get used all the year round, and the area itself will get fully integrated in the urban environment.
