UrBC, Magnitogorsk, September 19, 2019. Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) is taking part in the international real estate investment forum PROEstate 2019 which opens in Moscow today, the company’s Information & PR Department reports.
MMK intends to present Prityazhenie, its unique urban improvement project proposed by the company’s Chair of the BOD Viktor Rashnikov.
‘The idea is to create a comfortable, very high quality urban environment on a 400-hectare patch of land owned by Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works. The site will house up-to-date sports facilities, medical clinics, museums, and culture/educational establishments and will provide recreational, sports, and healthcare options for locals and visitors to the town,’ MMK says.
The construction has been scheduled to begin in 2020. The first stage of the project will be five years long and will result in the 220-hectare nucleus of the site, with a museum, a clinic, a sports cluster, and a visitor-friendly park. The museum section will feature a science museum for all ages, a museum dedicated to the history of the metallurgical industry in general and the history of MMK in particular, a number of exhibition halls to house permanent and temporary collections, a library, a lecture hall, a research center, a number of industrial labs, and art workshops.
The sports cluster will have a number of indoor and outdoor pitches for playing team sports, a gym, a fifty-meter swimming pool, an ice arena, and a wide range of pedestrian, running, skiing, and cycling tracks as well as a set of extreme sports facilities.
