UrBC, Chelyabinsk, November 30, 2018. Plenipotentiary Representative of Russian Federation President in Ural Federal District Nikolai Tsukanov and Governor of Chelyabinsk Region Boris Dubrovsky paid a visit to the construction sites of buildings and infrastructure facilities for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS Summits in Chelyabinsk, the Southern Urals Government’s Press Service & Information Department reports.
Plenipotentiary Representative Tsukanov, accompanied by Governor Dubrovsky, took a look at the construction site of the new terminal and airfield at Chelyabinsk Airport; the new terminal building is being put up with a private investor’s money, with everything going on schedule: the commissioning date has been set around the last quarter of 2019.
The airfield reconstruction is twofold: at the moment, the contractor is working to rebuild and expand the existing platforms and taxi strips and to introduce a fence with surveillance appliances. The next stage will involve putting up extra parking lots for the aircraft to bring the airport in compliance with the ICAO’s Class III requirements.
Plenipotentiary Representative Tsukanov and Governor Dubrovsky, also went to other summit locations such as Taganai 2020 Congress Hall and a hotel building at 94 Vasenko St, both currently under construction.
