UrBC, Magnitogorsk, October 10, 2018. Plenipotentiary Representative of Russian Federation President in Ural Federal District Nikolai Tsukanov paid a visit to Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) this week, the company press service reports.

Governor of Chelyabinsk Region Boris Dubrovsky, Head of Internal Affairs Ministry’s Chelyabinsk Region division Andrei Sergeyev, Head of the Russian National Guard (Rosgvardia) Chelyabinsk Region division Alexander Yasinsky, MMK Chair of the BOD Viktor Rashnikov, MMK Director-General Pavel Shilyayev, and Mayor of Magnitogorsk Sergey Berdnikov all accompanied Tsukanov on his visit.

‘The high-profile visitors took a tour of our blast furnace department, had a look at the cold-roll Mill 2000 and the famous Mill 5000, and went to see the construction site of our would-be Sintering Plant 5. The new sintering plant is expected to get launched next year as part of MMK’s environmental improvements program. The plant is meant to replace its current, older counterpart and to allow us to produce sintered ore using the most advanced and efficient technology to date,’ the press service says.

‘The new plant will also reduce our environmental impact considerably: the dust emissions will go down by 490,000 kg a year and the sulphur dioxide ones by 3,280,000 kg a year. What is more, the amount of suspended matter dumped yearly in our recirculating water system will drop by 600,000 kg. This drastic drop in occupational hazard factors will improve our employees’ working conditions dramatically,’ said MMK Chair of the BOD Viktor Rashnikov.
