UrBC, Chelyabinsk, October 17, 2018. The Russian Government is to decide on a contractor for Chelyabinsk Airport reconstruction, Southern Urals Government’s Press Service & Information Department refers to Governor of Chelyabinsk Region Boris Dubrovsky as stating.

‘Chelyabinsk will have to host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS summits in 2020. It is important to make sure the airport infrastructure meets all the international standards and summit requirements. Glavekspertiza recently approved of the documentation relating to the first stage of the reconstruction process, so we can now move further. The entire project has been worked over in every detail in collaboration with the federal executive authorities. As a result, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a decree to have the Russian Government appoint the only contractor for the project,’ Dubrovsky said.

Governor Dubrovsky said Chelyabinsk Region’s Government was also working with Russia’s Natural Resources Ministry to get ready to select a contractor for reclamation of a landfill located within Chelyabinsk’s living quarters; the landfill got shut down in September 2018.
