EVRAZ KGOK Invests RUR 10m in Machine Vision System

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, March 2, 2018. EVRAZ Holding’s Kachkanar Ore Mining & Processing Enterprise (KGOK) had a new machine vision system installed at its palletizing department, EVRAZ Holding Ural’s Corporate Relations Center reports.

The new system is meant to control the quality of pellets and boost the indurating machines’ productivity by 7,000,000 kg a year, as well as to cut down on the plant’s natural gas spending.

‘The fully automated system allows for contactless measurement of pellet parameters in four indurating machines. Every machine is fitted with four granulometer units, each of which has a powerful camera, a video-scanning device that digitalizes these video images, and software blocks that help calculate the pellet size, process the statistics, and display the information on screen. Raw pellets travel along the conveyor belt, the system films every single pellet and transfers the data to the pelletizing unit operator, who can adjust the production settings if necessary,’ the Center says.

The plant invested around RUR 10m in the new system.
