January 28, 2015. Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant (ChTPZ) is going to be the only supplier of large-diameter pipes for the construction of a football stadium in Samara; the stadium will be necessary for the world football championship of 2018, ChTPZ Group’s press service reports.
Under the terms of the contract, the plant will supply 6,700,000 kg LDPs to Kurganstalmost (the manufacturer of metal frames for the stadium) in January and February. A shipment will comprise a variety of LDPs (diameter range 530mm to 1,220mm, wall width 12mm to 40mm) made of K60 steel. To meet this order, customized performance specifications were elaborated by ChTPZ Group in cooperation with V.A. Kucherenko Central Scientific Research Institute for Building Structures.
The production of these large-diameter pipes complies with strict requirements: all the metal and the pipes themselves get subject to additional tests and have to comply with the chemical composition requirements. 1,500,000 kg of LDPs have already been delivered to the customer, and the latter is now working on metal frames.
The stadium in Samara must be ready in time for the World Cup. Its area is estimated at 153,000 m2, with seats for 45,000 supporters. The structure will be shaped like a 60-meter-high dome. The stadium is expected to be commissioned in 2017.
ChTPZ Group and Kurganstalmost have already worked together to supply goods for the construction of sports facilities. For one, they delivered their produce to the construction site of Moscow-based Spartak Stadium and to a skating ring facility in Sochi.
