December 3, 2014. Uralvagonzavod Corporation decided to set up a youth organization that will unite young workers from all of the corporation’s member enterprises and will help deal with the most important issues in youth policy.

According to the corporation’s press service, the creation of a youth organization will become the next important step in the holding’s integration process.

‘Nearly all of our plant, design offices, and scientific research institutes have youth organizations of this or that kind, the most efficient ones being the organizations at Yekaterinburg-based Plant 9 and Uraltransmash, Chelyabinsk-based ChTZ Uraltrac and Electromachine, Omsk-based Omsktransmash, and Ishimbay-based Vityaz. The corporation’s head plant, however, runs the biggest and the most active organization with over 7,000 members (more than 50% of the plant’s employees under the age of thirty-five). Besides, theirs is the first youth organization to be set up at a production plant in post-Soviet Russia. Uralvagonzavod’s youth organization celebrated its 15th anniversary in May 2014,’ the press service says.

It will therefore be the head plant’s youth organization that will become the basis for a single youth network within the corporation. The first step has already been made with the decision to set up a coordination council that will comprise not only the youth organizations’ leaders but also the member enterprises’ managers. The council will draft the charter and other normative documents that will be necessary for the organization to operate. It will also set priorities and create action plans: most of these will have to do with team-building and encouraging the corporation’s young workers to be proactive members of society.
