October 14, 2014. Unknown Tankprom: The Industry in the National Economy opened in State Central Museum of Modern Russian History on October 11. Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation, Polytechnic Museum, and the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Institute for History of Natural Sciences & Technology acted as the main organizers of the event. The choice of the opening date was by no means a coincidence: October 11 is the official launch date of Uralvagonzavod.

According to the corporation’s press service, the company’s Deputy DG for PR and GR Alexei Zharich said at the opening ceremony that the development of Tankprom was an important factor in improving the country’s defense capacity as well as in strengthening the Russian industry on the whole.

‘The government is currently allocating money for the modernization of our defense industry enterprises and is purchasing new vehicles and machines for the Armed Forces. The idea behind this exhibition is to show that the development of the defense industry sector stimulates the civilian industry’s growth as well: machines for the ore mining and oil and gas sectors, railway vehicles, light-rail vehicles, and space sector machines are just a few examples,’ Zharich said.
