October 4, 2012. Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) Scientific & Production Corporation and Bombardier presented their innovative technologies at the 2nd Eurasian Exhibition/Congress ExpoCityTrans-2012 that opened in Moscow on October 2. The UVZ Corporation and the world’s largest machine-building corporation’s joint stand, dubbed ‘City Transport of the Future’, featured a sample of a full-size driver’s pit of a low-floor tram Bombardier Flexity as well as small copies of underground carriages and other tram types. Experts and visitors to the fair could also enjoy a presentation of UVZ-designed innovational multi-purpose vehicle TMV-2, Uralvagonzavod Corporation’s press service reports.

ExpoCityTrans is the third exhibition where UVZ and Bombardier work as partners. The two corporations started cooperating in July 2012 at the Innoprom Exhibition and have been building up on their ties ever since. UVZ Deputy Director for Road-Building and Agricultural Vehicles Semyon Mlodik pointed out that their Russian enterprise would always work with the world’s leading tram supplier Bombardier at all the light rail transit events of this kind.

ExpoCityTrans is a good site for enhancing both companies’ prospects. In the course of the official opening ceremony, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport Issues Maxim Liksutov said, ‘Moscow is one of Europe’s major cities in terms of public transport use. Over 50% of our fleet of vehicles has been replaced over the last two years alone, and both Moscow transport companies and the city council are definitely interested in the further development of the transportation services market.’

UVZ is currently waiting for the next tender for providing Moscow with up-to-date trams to be announced. The corporation hopes that the exhibition will encourage more interest in UVZ and Bombardier’s joint projects and that, thanks to its Canadian partners, they will win the tender.
