Uralvagonzavod Presents Public Transport Concept at Russia’s Transport 2012

December 10, 2012 Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation and Bombardier presented their joint vision of the public transport of the future at the international exhibition and forum Russia’s Transport 2012, the corporation’s press service reports.

The forum, held under the auspices of the Russian Transport Ministry, gathered the representatives of all transport enterprises, government officials, expert and scientific communities, and members of transport NGOs. This year, delegates from 20 different companies visited the exhibition, and over 100 companies took part in the event.

The joint stand of Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation and Bombardier Corporation called City Transport of the Future was visited by Head of the Russian President Administration Sergey Ivanov, Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov, and Minister for Open Government Issues Mikhail Abyzov.

The Corporation’s Deputy DG for Railway Vehicles Andrei Shlensky made a presentation on the two companies’ joint projects on making modern underground carriages and tramways.

‘Bombardier is the world’s leading electric transport manufacturer, and we are prsetnting this brand in Russia and will take part in auctions and tenders. Under the Moscow Government’s tender requirements, we are to supply the first tram to them in the middle of 2014 and the first underground carriage at the end of the same year. In principle, we are prepared for that,’ Shlensky said.
