October 16, 2014. The new tram R1 (Russia One) designed by Uraltransmash (a member enterprise of Uralvagonzavod Corporation) will be displayed at the ExpoCityTrans 2014 Exhibition at MosExpo International Exhibition Center in Moscow on October 29-November 1, Uralvagonzavod Corporation’s press service reports.

Now R1 is Russia’s first low-floor tram that is currently unique to this country. The tram can boast a lot of technological novelties and new options, including the wireless Internet access, GPS and GLONASS navigation, seven HD CCTV cameras, air conditioning, and antibacterial hand-rails. The body of the tram is partially made from composite materials.

‘Experts from all over the world spoke very highly of the Russian industrial design development. A well-known American automobile designer Chris Bangle who saw the tram in Yekaterinburg said the company did ‘a great job’, the corporation says.

The exhibition will feature innovative transport developments and newest achievements in the field of operation and maintenance of all kinds of transport as well as original infrastructure and technical solutions.
