Yekaterinburg: 84 COVID-19 Suspects Now in Hospital

20 March 2020 (09:08)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, March 20, 2020. 84 patients who possibly have coronavirus are now being examined at Yekaterinburg’s Clinic 40; there’s also one patient each in Kamensk-Uralsky and Novaya Lyalya, Vice Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Pavel Krekov said at a press briefing in Yekaterinburg today.

‘Some of them [the patients - Ed.] are only known to have come in contact with the diagnosed; they are healthy, they only came in contact with those who have the disease,’ Krekov said.

When asked whether Vektor Lab in Novosibirsk (which is currently working on the new virus tests) diagnosed the second CV patient in Sverdlovsk Region, Krekov said the lab made the test results available via the official website.

‘I haven’t seen any information [regarding a new case of COVID 2019 - Ed.] there yet,’ Krekov said.

According to Krekov, they have all the medical supplies available, and the necessary treatment is being provided. The authorities are now coordinating the purchase of extra thermal cameras and lung ventilators.

There are currently no seniors who require special medical care in Sverdlovsk Region. By the end of the day, the authorities should also have the schoolchildren’s survey results as well.

‘Just like yesterday, all the cases only involve people arriving from Europe. They all get examined first at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport and then at Koltsovo Airport in Yekaterinburg. Also, a number of international flights still get operated to and from Koltsovo Airport, so all the arriving passengers get examined,’ Krekov said.
