25 October 2006 (12:54)

Since the beginning of the year, about 500 mangers, experts and workers from fifteen departments of Metallurgical Industrial Complex of Nizhniy Tagil (part of Evraz Group) have successfully undergone certification. The certification is used by the company’s management to make decisions about awards, promotions and further professional training of the employees. So far, eighty-five people proved their right to get promotions, pay rises and becoming alternative manager candidates. 170 people were recommended to get additional training.

The employees were assessed by an ad hoc committee consisting of the company’s directors, lawyers, personnel managers and technicians as well as the independent experts from the city council. Each person had to answer questions concerning their professional activity and show that they are well-informed about the labour legislation, the collective agreement, the basics of industrial safety and quality management.

Such certification campaigns cover around 900 people a year. Managers, experts and workers have to undergo the procedure every five years, with the results filed into the database, which provides for an objective assessment of the professional development dynamics and the effectiveness of each employee’s performance. The company has certified over 7,000 people over the last seven years.
