ChelyabEnergo, the supplier of Chelyabinsk Region, initiated the work of the committee whose task is to examine how prepared the subsidiary network is for the coming fall and winter. The examination includes all-round and fair assessment of all the parameters of the mains in terms of how well they will be able to operate in very low temperature. The committee reports will lead to the subsidiaries receiving or not receiving special preparedness certificates for 2006/2007, the company’s spokesperson said to UrBC representative.

The company has already spent 400m RUR on repairs and renovation since the beginning of the year, and all the works were completed well before the due date. It has also given overhaul to 293 6-110-kilowatt substations, 498 kilometers of mains, 86 transformers, and 322 switches, cleaned up 174 hectares of main areas, and replaced 343 cubic meters of woodwork. The emphasis was put on the municipal mains managed by the company.

The enterprise is also busy renovating equipment and mains in the city of Chelyabinsk and the region’s mining areas, for example, replacing cables with the larger ones and installing more powerful transformers. The company’s repair team has conducted a series of contingency training; they have also been provided with special uniform and shoes suitable for winter as well as with extra stock of materials and equipment.

These measures will make it possible for the supplier to completed the winter preparations in time and provide reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply.
