2 November 2017 (15:47)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 2, 2017. Rosset’s Federal Grid Company United Energy Systems (FCG UES) got certified as ready for the fall/winter of 2017/2018, the company press service reports.

The certificate proves that the company’s United Energy Systems are fully prepared to operate under the season’s maxim workload in seventy-seven Russian constituencies where the company runs its facilities.

The certificate was issued after a special inspection by an interdepartmental committee consisting of representatives of Russia’s Energy Ministry, Rostechnadzor, UES System Operator, Russia’s Ministry of Emergencies, and Rosset’s Technical Surveillance members.

The company directed RRUR 11.4bn to repairs and preparations for the heating season this year. 75 autotransformer units got repaired, as well as around 2,000 switchgear units and 11,000 disconnecting switches. Additionally, 46,800 hectares of space around electric mains got cleared, 84,000 insulating units got replaced, and over 14,000 main support beams got repaired and fortified.

FCG UES also tested all of its power substations and electric mains for winter readiness. Electric mains that are most likely to get covered in frost and ice are now under special supervision. Over 180 trial runs of ice-melting operations have been carried out. The company’ rescue and emergency teams are now fully staffed. Finally, the company prepared 170 megawatt worth of backup power supply units.

More than a thousand rescue teams with 4,700 special-purpose vehicles are ready to handle possible emergencies throughout the country.
