Uralvagonzavod and Knorr-Bremse Systeme für Schienenfahrzeuge GmBH negotiate for setting up joint venture to produce modern rolling-stock brake systems

On June 6, 2006, some Knorr-Bremse Systeme für Schienenfahrzeuge GmBH (Germany) executives paid a business visit to Federal State Unitary Enterprise Uralvagonzavod Production Association. The delegacy consisted of Dieter Willhelm, member of the German company’s Higher Council, Wolfgang Schloesser, member of the Board of Directors, and V.V. Rutkas, Head of the Representative Office in Russia and CIS countries.
‘During the visit, the top-management of our company and the German guests negotiated for cooperation in creation of new promising brake systems for a new generation of carriages. We entered an engagement to set up some task groups to prepare setting up of a joint venture. The venture is to develop and produce modern brake systems for the rolling-stock used at the railroads of Russia and CIS countries,’ Uralvagonzavod PR-department reported to UrBC representative.
According to the spokesperson for Uralvagonzavod, it was the first meeting of the partners and the main discussions concerned the cooperation principles and the preliminary expectations of the joint venture production output. Terms of the project activity and the project investment cost are not disclosed at the present stage of negotiations.
