19 February 2020 (09:07)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, February 19, 2020. A new automatic process control system has been launched at EVRAZ Holding’s Kachkanarsky Ore Mining & Processing Enterprise’s Sintering Unit 1, EVRAZ Holding Ural’s Corporate Communications Center reports.

‘The system is based on an advanced, high-efficiency controller which collects and analyzes data on forty tech parameters of the sintering process and on thirty nodal points and appliances within the sintering unit. All the data get displayed on the control panel screens online, which means the unit operator can use the information for immediate performance adjustments,’ the Center says.

EVRAZ Holding’s Kachkanarsky Ore Mining & Processing Enterprise (EVRAZ KGOK) also intends to get Sintering Unit 2 automated before the end of the year, as well as to upgrade the sinter-dampening system within the re-sintering facility. All the appliances will become part of a single automatic process control system, which means the sintering department will switch to 100% automated control of all tech processes and appliances.

‘The use of IT in production helps us introduce an up-to-date system that ensures reliable sinter production control. The goal is to improve the quality and enhance the efficiency of making end produce at EVRAZ KGOK,’ says Managing Director at EVRAZ NTMK and EVRAZ KGOK Alexei Kushnarev.

The automation of Sintering Units 1 and 2 will cost the company around RUB 25m.
