UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 15, 2019. EVRAZ Kachkanarsky Ore Mining & Processing Enterprise (EVRAZ KGOK) cleared up the land allotment that will serve as the construction site for titanium-magnetic ore Sobstvenno-Kachkanarskoye Deposit’s open-pit, dumping site, ore re-handling points, and rail- and motor roads, EVRAZ Holding Ural’s Corporate Communications Center reports.
A 32-meter-wide and 2.8-kilometer long haul road is currently under construction at the deposit site; the road is meant for 240,000-kg-strong BelAZ trucks and is to connect the open pit with the ore re-handling stations. Some 1.5 km of roadbed got built for the railroad to connect Ore Re-Handling Station 1 to Severnaya Station. The construction of the railroad will begin as soon as February 2020. Severnaya Station will undergo reconstruction as well and will get fitted with extra cross-over roads and six railroad switches. The construction of the roadbed for the railroad link to Ore Re-Handling Station 2 will also begin next year.
A sewage system is also being built on the site, with pumping appliances and drainage ditches 1.5 km long and 5-7 km deep. 600 meters of the ditches are already prepared. There will be eight drainage ditches, two pumping stations, and two holding ponds altogether.
The mine is expected to produce 13,000,000,000 kg of titanium-magnetic ore a year by 2024. 135 new jobs will be created as well.
