EVRAZ WorldSkills Starts in Novokuznetsk

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, June 25, 2019. EVRAZ Consolidated West-Siberian Metallurgical Plant (EVRAZ ZSMK) is hosting the 4th EVRAZ WorldSkills blue-collar job championship on June 24-27. A professional skills contest is taking place at the plant at the same time, EVRAZ Holding Siberia’s Corporate Communications Center reports.
More than three hundred skilled workers and experts from six large industrial enterprises (EVRAZ Consolidated West-Siberian Metallurgical Plant, EVRAZ Nizhny Tagil Metallurgical Plant, Kachkanarsky Ore Mining & Processing Enterprise, Raspadskaya Coal Company, EVRAZ Vanady Tula, and EvrazTekhnika) are taking part in the championship.
‘Every year, EVRAZ Holding coordinates the WorldSkills championship on a larger scale. The number of categories the contestants compete in tripled in the last four years, whilst the number of contestants is now five times larger,’ the company says.
This year, the contest participants are competing in twelve different categories: Mechatronics, Welding Technologies, Wiring, Lab Chemical Testing, Metal Sheet Treatment, Nondestructive Testing, Mobile Robotics (x2), CAD Engineering Design, Design Engineering, Reverse Engineering, and Job Safety. The last three categories got added for the first time this year.
EVRAZ professional skills contest is a large-scale event that gathers together the holding’s best workers in the blue-collar sector. The skills contests help improve the corporate cadre training system and contribute to the company’s image-building. Winners in the corporate rounds of the contest go on to compete in the All-Russian competitions.
In 2018, EVRAZ was one of the top three WorldSkills Hi Tech companies in Yekaterinburg, with two gold, five silver, and three bronze medals.
