UrBC, Yekaterinburg, May 20, 2019. Nizhniy Tagil Children’s Art Center is working on the filming of The Magical Straw Shoes, a Russian folk tale, with support from EVRAZ Holding. The center’s filming project won a grant within the framework of EVRAZ Holding’s social investment program. The company allocated RUB 450,000 for the project.

According to EVRAZ Holding Ural’s Corporate Communications Center, the filming appliances (studio lights, camera lenses, props and special effect fixtures, stage make up, and hard drives to store the footage) have already been purchased.

‘The movie itself will be made available in December 2019. The film will premiere in Nizhniy Tagil Children’s Art Center and in a number of local movie theaters. The project is being directed by Vladimir Ufimtsev and Alexander Zlygostev, who run the feature film studio, with children from the art center getting all the parts. The first film shoot took place in A Peasant’s Log Cabin,’ the company says.

The children involved in the filming are thus expected to learn more about the culture and customs of the various ethnic groups living in Russia.

The filming project was one of the thirteen successful applications to win EVRAZ grants. Over 131 applications have been submitted all in all, competing for the grants of up to RUB 500,000. EVRAZ Holding Ural’s next call for applications has been scheduled for September 2019.
