ChelPipe Group Cuts Energy Spending by RUR 70m

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, September 7, 2018. ChelPipe Group’s member enterprises Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant and Pervouralsk New Pipe Plant cut their energy spending by RUR 70m in the first half of the year within the framework of the Group’s energy efficiency program.
According to the Group’s press service, launching a new power substation (Novotrubnaya) proved the major driving force behind a dramatic drop in energy spending. The station needed RUR 220m in investments to get put up. Novotrubnaya now ensures uninterrupted power supply to the electric steel-smelting shop Iron Ozone 32 and cuts the plant’s energy costs by about RUR 50m a year.
Additionally, five of the two plants’ primary departments have switched to the up-to-date LED-based lighting fixtures which consumer four times less energy than their earlier counterparts. Heat generators came to replace the regular radiators at Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant in the first half of the year, which reduced the plant’s heating costs by 5%.
The Group is also trying to optimize its natural gas spending. Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant, for one, now has its own heat engineering lab.
