TMK Launches Heat Recycling Unit
10 March 2017 (12:54)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, March 10, 2017. TMK’s Seversky Pipe Plant launched a heat recycling unit for its steel-smelting arc furnace recently.
According to TMK press service, the goal is to recycle the heat the furnace gives off when cooling.
The recycling unit allows the plant to use this heating power (some 5 gigacalories/hour) to provide less expensive heating for the plant. Besides, this is a very environmentally friendly energy source, as no natural gas needs to be burned in the process.
The heat recycling unit cost 25m RUR to launch. Provided the unit works smoothly, the entire project will pay off within one year’s time.
‘The introduction of this heat recycling unit is one of the plant’s key projects for the Year of the Environment. We hope to both decrease our energy spending and reduce our environmental impact greatly,’ says the plant’s Managing Director Mikhail Zuyev.
