EVRAZ NTMK Launches New Ball Mill
13 August 2018 (10:08)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, August 13, 2018. EVRAZ Holding’s Nizhniy Tagil Integrated Metallurgical Works (NTMK) launched a new ball-rolling mill this month. The mill is meant for making seven different types of balls (diameter: 60 mm to 120 mm; hardness grade: 5) that up till now only used to get manufactured abroad, the company press service reports.
EVRAZ NTMK and EVRAZ KGOK Managing Director Alexei Kushnarev and provisional Mayor of Nizhniy Tagil Vladislav Pinayev both attended the solemn launching ceremony.
‘The mill will be used for making a completely new product type that has never been manufactured in Russia before. We’ll thus be able to offer our customers the highest quality product there can be, which is expected to increase our steel ball sales and expand our sales markets,’ Alexei Kushnarev said.
‘It’s truly nice to see the ball-rolling mill get launched on Town Day,’ Vladislav Pinayev said.
‘There are few cities in Russia that see their largest plant and job-creator launch a hi tech production line almost every month. The introduction of this ball mill is important both in terms of creating new jobs and in terms of production upgrades. This means Nizhniy Tagil keeps on evolving and has development potential, which, in its turn, means there are some prospects for our young men and women here.’
The new mill’s capacity comes to around 135,000,000 kg of steel balls a year. EVRAZ Holding invested nearly RUR 1bn into the project.
