UrBC, Yekaterinburg, August 31, 2017. EVRAZ NTMK keeps working on its new ball-rolling mill, EVRAZ Holding Ural’s Corporate Relations Center reports.

The mill will be eventually launched at the rail and beam department; the workers are currently busy assembling the basic mill equipment.

‘We need to get the pre-heating furnace, the rolling mill stand, the ball thermal treatment section, and the unloading section assembled. The production line is going to be 300 meters long. Once launched, it will create quite a few new jobs,’ the Center says.

The use of a new two-stage hardening technology and of a special steel alloy designed at EVRAZ NTMK make it possible to produce balls with strength grade 5 and diameter of 60 mm to 120 mm.

‘The new mill will produce a wider range of grinding balls, which means we can increase our share of this market segment. Mastering new product types is one of the company’s priorities. We are currently developing over twenty different kinds of metal goods,’ says EVRAZ NTMK and EVRAZ KGOK Managing Director Alexei Kushnarev.

The new mill’s capacity is estimated at around 135,000,000 kg of balls a year. EVRAZ Holding will invest some 1bn RUR into the project all in all.
