EVRAZ NTMK to Invest 1bn RUR in Ball Mill

7 March 2017 (12:26)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, March 7, 2017. EVRAZ Holding Nizhiy Tagil Integrated Metallurgical Works (NTMK) is working to make a new ball-rolling mill at the moment: a site is being prepared to mount the rolling unit and foundation is being laid for the heating furnace, the company press service reports.

All the technological equipment needed for the mill is getting made and assembled as well. Tomsk Electronic Company, the general contractor for the project, is to supply its ball thermal treatment unit onto the plant as well as to design an automated control system and auxiliary electric equipment for it.

The ball-rolling mill will get installed at the beam department, where isothermal furnaces used to be. All the old fixtures have been taken down, and the room was remodeled and fitted with new lighting. The three-hundred-meter-long mill will comprise several sections, including a heating unit, a ball-rolling unit, and a thermal treatment unit.

‘The unique two-stage treatment technology and the special, NTMK-designed alloyed steel we are going to use will mean the resulting 60 to 120 mm balls will have Strength Grade 5 (currently only available from foreign manufacturers). These balls have enhanced internal and external strength grade and don’t get deformed with use. Ore mining and processing enterprises are our key potential customers,’ the press service says.
