UrBC, Yekaterinburg, August 10, 2018. MegaFon’s engineers sped up the company’s indoor base stations Liner and Nebo at two terminals of Yekaterinburg’s Koltsovo Airport, the company press service reports.

The data transfer speed can now reach 300 Mb/sec at any given location within the airport. This means downloading a movie that you can watch on board will take under a minute.

Every day, MegaFon processes the amount of Internet traffic at Koltsovo Airport that is enough to upload two million photographs onto social networks. The company’s two base stations streamline the international and domestic arrivals and departure lounges to ensure the best customer service and speedy transfer of any amount of data.

‘More than 850,000 of MegaFon’s customers were at the airport in July alone. There’s the remainder of the vacation season coming up, so there’s going to be a new wave of vacationers at the airport soon. To make sure they can share their photos from day one and have a good time online while waiting for the boarding, we improved our LTE Advanced and made the Internet connection twice as fast as before,’ says MegaFon Ural’s Tech Director Anton Scherbakov.
