MMK Workers Get Legal Advice Options

14 March 2018 (09:22)

UrBC, Chelyabinsk, March 14, 2018. MMK Group’s Trade Union’s Legal Advice Service came up with a performance report for 2017, the company press service reports.

The company’s lawyers are continually involved in expert examination of local normative acts’ draft proposals. They checked 567 drafts proposed by MMK Group for compliance with the Labor Code in the course of twelve months. The company’s labor dispute committee looked into eight employee complaints: in six cases, the employer’s orders were ruled ungrounded and got dismissed.

The company workers asked for legal advice much more often in 2017 than ever before. Over 800 employees applied to the corporate lawyers, which exceeded the earlier figures by nearly a third.

It is believed the increase has to do with the introduction of a special-purpose trade union program about a year ago: the goal was to make sure every trade union member has access to readily available and professional lawyer’s advice. A number of projects were launched:

1) Trade Union Law 101 — weekly sessions lawyers hold with MMK employees right on site;
2) My Trade Union — a mobile app that over 200 people have used in the last four months to ask their questions (paid leave, overtime, physicals, etc.);
3) 24/7 Legal Support and Chair of Trade Union’s Online Office on the company trade union’s website, where you can submit a query (anonymously if you prefer).
