UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 19, 2016. Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s head plant recently hosted a round table discussion on their inventors and innovators’ performance. The discussion was held on the eve of Inventor’s Day and was part of celebrating the plant’s special year: Ural Vagon Zavod was founded eighty years ago this month.

According to the corporation’s press service, the foresight discussion and the conference participants’ reports were all dedicated to how an employee and their company can work together to enhance their intellectual potential. Some ten Ural Federal District-based organizations contributed to the discussion.

Last year, 546 employees from fifty-six departments of Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s head plant in Nizhniy Tagil submitted over 400 improvement proposals and inventor’s applications. 254 improvement proposals were actually introduced at the plant, resulting in more than 28.3m RUR in savings. Additionally, this helped the company cut down its ferrous metal spending by 240,100 kg, electric power spending by 63,000 kilowatt-hours, and labor intensity by 9,954 standard hours. As it happens, the number of improvement proposals submitted exceeded the yearly target expectations by 39%.

The discussion also centered on protection of inventor’s rights, cooperation mechanisms for inventors and their employers, ways to motivate workers to get involved in improvement activities and create intellectual property, and economic issues involved.
