UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 6, 2016. A repair and maintenance depot for foreign-made containers at UEKHK (a member enterprise of Rosatom’s TVEL) got the first batch of 30B containers used for transportation of enriched plutonium to international customers certified, the company press service reports.
The certification process involved all the necessary procedures such as hydrostatic testing of containers for strength and airtightness, pneumatic testing, non-destructive tests, inspection of all the joints and connections, and everything else that the depot could do on its own. The containers were then handed over to the depot’s technological division to get filled.
‘Before this depot got launched, our foreign customers could only obtain certified containers abroad. Now the company can get their containers certified on its own, which makes all the transactions much easier as well as allows us to compete on the world market,’ the company press service says.
