Ural Vagon Zavod sends last DET 250 tractor to MMK

2 February 2016 (11:14)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, February 2, 2016. Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant (a member enterprise of Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation) supplied its last diesel-electric tractor DET 250 to Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works/MMK, the corporation’s press service reports.

‘It has been suggested that we should deliver new-generation vehicles to MMK, but the customer insisted on the ‘classical version’, since these are these machines that are used at most of MMK’s ore mining enterprises. So the latest shipment will be used for ore transportation as well,’ the press service says.

Head of the company Sales Department Denis Shabalin says the plant doesn’t plan to produce this tractor make any longer.

The decision to call the product off has been made many times before, but customers keep asking for it time and time again, even though this basic diesel-electric tractor (given all the upgrades and modifications) has been manufactured at the plant for over five decades now.

‘This time, however, the tractor MMK received is going to be the last of the Mohicans. This is actually a historic day for the company. From now on, customers will be offered the tractor’s ‘heir’, a more up-to-date and convenient DET 400,’ the press service says.
