UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 15, 2015. The amount of shipments processed by UVZ-Logistic (a member enterprise of Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation) rose by 16% in the third quarter of the year compared with the previous quarter and amounted to 10.22m tons.
According to the corporation’s press service, coal shipments amounted to 7m tons, which was 35% more than in the previous quarter. The overall cargo turnover went up by 16.8% and came to 32.14bn ton-kilometer, which exceeded the figures for the second quarter of 2015 by 22.6%.
The increase was possible due to more shipments at West-Siberian Railways (over 6m tons of cargo), Krasnoyarsk Railways (883,000 tons), and South-Ural Railways (some 750,000 tons). In fact, around 80% of all shipments the company handles get transported via these railways.
Also, the increase in shipments had to do with preparations for the heating season and bigger orders under existing contracts.
