Sverdlovsk Railways handle 20% less building cargo in August

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, September 7, 2015. The amount of building materials transported via Sverdlovsk Railways decreased by 19.2% compared with a year earlier, the company press service reports.
The carrier also handled 1.8% less of chemical and mineral fertilizers, 9.4% less of scrap ferrous metals, 3.2% less of cement, and 11.9% less of coke. On the other hand, the amount of oil and petroleum products cargo, industrial raw stuffs, chemicals and soda, timber, and grains increased by 16.2%, 7%, 6.1%, 11.5%, and 22.1%, respectively.
The company's overall freight turnover came to 132.2bn ton-kilometers in the year 2015 so far (up 3.8% on a year earlier).
As for Russian Railways on the whole, the carrier handled 105.2m tons of cargo in August 2015, which was 0.6% less than in August 2014. Its freight turnover rose by 1% on a year earlier and reached 193.6bn ton-kilometers last month. Also, the company's overall freight turnover came to 796.8m ton-kilometers in the year so far (down 1.4% on a year earlier).
