Sverdlovsk Railways’ Freight Turnover Down 2.1% in February

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, March 9, 2017. Sverdlovsk Railways’ freight turnover declined by 2.1% in February 2017 compared with one year earlier and amounted to 16.1bn ton-kilometers, the company press service reports.

The freight forwarder hailed 10.6m tons of cargo in February, which exceeded the figures for one year earlier by 3.2%, with average daily load at 377,000,000 kg.

The overall amount of cargo handled in the first two months of the year is reported to come to 21.4m tons, which is 1.6% more than in January and February 2016. Among other things, Sverdlovsk Railways delivered to customers 7.1m tons of oil and mineral products (down 5.8% on January-February 2016), 2.7m tons of building materials (up 16.4%), 1.5m tons of ferrous metals (up 2.7%), 2.5m tons of chemicals and fertilizers (up 13.1%), 1.6m tons of industrial raw stuffs (up 16.3%), 320,000,000 kg of scrap ferrous metals (up 38%), 248,000,000 kg of coke (up 14.8%), and 18,400,000 kg of grains (down 53% on one year earlier).

The company’s freight turnover has reached 32.74bn ton-kilometers since the start of the year, which is comparable with the figures for January-February 2016.
