September 25, 2013. Yekaterinburg is currently Russia’s top city in terms of development, culture, and incoming and outgoing tourist industry as well as the living conditions, Deputy Mayor of Yekaterinburg Sergey Tushin said at a solemn reception dedicated to the World Tourism Day.
‘The tourist industry is one of the core sectors of the city’s economy at the moment, and one reason why this sector is developing so fast is that both the local authorities and the business community – as well as the city’s entire public – are interested in this development. When these three parties unite, Yekaterinburg, just like any other city, become capable of doing everything: implementing such projects as world computer programming championships, hosting the World Cup 2018, and, most importantly, coordinating and hosting World Universal Exhibition EXPO 2020,’ Tushin said.
