April 15, 2013. A clearly set preparation strategy that would cover both the technical and the socio-psychological issues is needed for the successful organization of EXPO 2020 in Yekaterinburg, Deputy Mayor for National & International Events Coordination Sergey Tushin said at the meeting of the Russian Federation Union of Municipal Representative Bodies’ Coordination Committee.

‘The strategy needs to be elaborated by all of Sverdlovsk Region’s municipalities, which will attract important international events into the area. In fact, this is already happening. There is a certain logic for coordinating the Russia-EU and Russia-Kazakhstan summits, the World Computer Programming Championship 2014, and the World Cup 2018 – this is a chain of events that will prepare the society organizationally, technically, and psychologically for holding EXPO 2020 in Yekaterinburg,’ Tushin explained.

According to the officials, it was precisely the organizational and psychological factor that prevented Moscow from hosting the World Exhibition in 2010.
