A Street in Chelyabinsk to Be Named after ChTZ Designer

April 8, 2013. To celebrate Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant’s 80th anniversary that is to fall on June 1, 2013, the company’s management appealed to Mayor of Chelyabinsk Sergey Davydov, asking him to name one of the city’s new streets after a great designer and scientist Nikolai Dukhov. The idea was backed up by the trade union and the long-service employees council of ChTZ, says the press service of Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation (ChTZ is a member of the corporation).
The tractor company’s application was considered by an expert committee on naming streets, squares, and municipal buildings and on erecting monuments in Chelyabinsk. The same proposal was submitted by ChelyabinskGrazhdanStroy, a construction company that is now putting up housing in the village of Churilovo, the press release states.
The experts, chaired by Deputy Mayor for Social Development Igor Lopatkin, supported ChTZ and the construction company’s applications. However, this is just the first stage of the negotiations: it is the municipal Duma that has to say the decisive ‘yes’. It is possible that the deputies will make their decision and get a new street named after Dukhov before the anniversary.
