February 6, 2013. Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation’s head plant invested 98.95m RUR in environmental protection in 2012. Over 48 conservation projects were implemented over this period, which reduced the negative impact Uralvagonzavod makes on the environment and residents of Nizhniy Tagil, the corporation’s press service reports.

The reconstruction of the plant’s filtering facilities was one of last year’s largest and most significant projects. Within the framework of this project, obsolete technologies are being replaced with the up-to-date ones, which will both considerably reduce the burden on the environmental and provide the enterprise with recycled water that meets service water standards. Some harbor booms will be used at the filtering facilities until all the jobs have been completed so as to decrease waste water dumping in the River Vatikha by 1.5 tons (for mineral products) and 7.6 tons (for suspended matter) a year.

In 2012, the plant also kept on recycling Uralvagonzavod’s slagheap, with 453,000 tons of waste recycled altogether. In addition, the company’s emission fees dropped by 50m RUR.
