Uralvagonzavod Gets 3 Civil Defense Certificates

February 4, 2013. In 2012, Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation was declared the best enterprise in three categories of the municipal civil defense and emergencies contest in Nizhniy Tagil. The certificates were awarded to the company representatives by Mayor Sergey Nosov at a training session of the Nizhniy Tagil section of the safety alert and ES response network. Members of Nizhniy Tagil Council and local companies’ employees came up with a report on the Nizhniy Tagil section’s performance and drew an action plan for 2013, Uralvagonzavod’s press service reports.

Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation’s head plant was given three certificates: for the best set of textbooks and other educational materials on civil defense and emergencies, for the best casualty clearing point, and for the best performance in the field of civil defense and prevention of emergencies in 2012. What is more, the plant’s Director-General Oleg Sienko was awarded with a certificate from Sverdlovsk Region division of the DoE for his conscientious approach to being the head of the corporation’s Civil Defense Unit. Sienko was also awarded for taking steps to improve and maintain the protective civil defense structures that won the first prize in the regional contest, the company’s press release says.

It is reported that Uralvagonzavod has 21 protective facilities fit for over 14,000 people at its disposal for peace- and war-time emergencies. In 2012, a number of important steps were taken to coordinate radiation, chemical, and biological protection measures. The company also bought gas masks for the employees as well as gas- and smoke-protective gear for the rescue teams. Also, all the socially important buildings at Uralvagonzavod were given sets of gas- and smoke-protective suits to ensure safe evacuation in case of fire or other emergencies.
