UrBC, Yekaterinburg, February 5, 2019. EVRAZ Holding’s Nizhniy Tagil Metallurgical Plant (NTMK) received three awards for its efforts in the civil defense, emergency prevention, and fire safety sector, EVRAZ Holding Ural reports.

The plant got awarded Russia’s Ministry of Emergencies’ Sverdlovsk Region division’s special certificate for the Best Training/Resource Base. The Nizhniy Tagil-based plant received the award for maintaining its protection facilities, employee training, and overall civil defense and emergency prevention work.

‘EVRAZ NTMK focuses very closely on emergency prevention and management. The plant runs a gas safety station, a firefighting unit, a medical unit, five labs, and 57+ nonprofessional civil defense teams manned by workers from the plant’s various departments,’ the company says.

The company coordinated seventy-five emergency drills last year, as well as a series of HQ and special-purpose drills. These involved 2,000 workers and 100 vehicles.

EVRAZ NTMK’s production departments are fitted with firefighting equipment, an automated fire alarm system, automated fire-extinguishing appliances, and gas-analyzing units. The plant purchased more than 725 last-generation analyzers last year alone.
