Uralvagonzavod Hold Civil Defense Seminar

November 2, 2012. Uralvagonzavod hosted a scheduled municipal seminar on civil defense on its premises. Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation’s head office proved it had a very good material resource base for dealing with emergencies and could create, store, and use these resources properly, the corporation’s press service reports.

The seminar, dedicated to the material resource reserves needed to deal with an emergency and to their function, legal regulations, and procedures for creating, storing, and using these resources, was attended by chairmen of Nizhniy Tagil enterprise sustainability committees and heads of civil defense and emergency HQs of the city council, KhZ Planta, EVRAZ NTMK, Uralkhimplast, and other local companies.

The seminar participants could also have a look at the achievements of Russia’s largest machine-building plant with its rich technical base and modernization potential. Uralvagonzavod’s Chief Engineer Yuri Shangin presented a report on the plant’s innovational activity. Also, Assistant to the Director-Geneal for Civil Defense & Emergencies Andrei Mishin spoke about the creation of reserves needed to deal with emergencies. He pointed out that the company paid special attention to civil defense issues. For one, following the DG’s order, a reserve of building materials, combustibles and lubricants, hardware, medical supplies, special-purpose clothing, PPE, and other resources was set up at Uralvagonzavod. This reserve is used for preventing local production breakdowns and in other high- contingency cases and is replenished accordingly.
