Ural Electric Grids Ready for Cold

December 17, 2012. Urals Electric Grids, a subsidiary of Federal Grid Company UES, is taking extra measures to ensure uninterrupted power supply to end users because of a harsh drop in the temperature, Sverdlovsk Region Government’s Press Service & Information Department reports.
The anomalously low temperatures result in greater power consumption, which means a much more noticeable workload on the power supply system. This is why, to make sure the system keeps functioning in this period, the company equipment is to work in the high alert regime.
At the moment the company is keeping avert close eye on all the machinery, including its Sverdlovsk Region assets. Special attention is also paid to the heating facilities. Also, no scheduled or routine switching is allowed when the outside temperature is below 25 degrees centigrade.
