November 20, 2012. An operation & maintenance center was set up at Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation’s head plant. The enterprise’s new division aims to centralize planning, analyze the equipment, buildings, and facilities maintenance expenses, come up with repairs schedules in order to avoid emergency stoppages, and cut down on the prime cost of projects, Uralvagonzavod’s press service reports.

The center comprises the Chief Mechanic and the Chief Electrician’s divisions as well as some subdivisions of the Chief Energy Engineer’s division, the department for maintenance & technical surveillance of buildings and facilities, the metal structures repair and assembly shop, the electrical repairs shop, the electric mains and substations shop, the steam and water supply infrastructure shop, the thermal station repair shop, and some mechanical repairs shops. In addition, a new subdivision was set up to plan and analyze the repairs budget and to determine the costs of repairs and the prime cost of the company’s own services.

Uralvagonzavod analysts feel such centralization is a globally accepted practice that always yields good results, since it means accumulation and rational use of both material and human resources.
